I think I am teh victim of one of the cursed bad Four Winns battery chargers.

How can I tell the thing is doing anything (the lights are on...)

Here is a good website to let you know all you will ever need toknow about battery recharging.

You should be able to test the voltage across the battery with the charger on and see that the charger is indeed pushing a charge into the battery.
