Has anyone set up a Magma Kettle Grill on the transom rail? I was looking for a good spot to mount adapter. It looks like the Four Winns lettering might prevent me from installing a flush mount on the sides. Would a pedestal mount work on the swim platform? Any idea's ?

The kettle, with that swing arm mount, seems like it can be mounted just about anywhere. Your points to consider are keeping it out of the way for people walking and avoiding grease dripping onto fiberglass. I went with a pedestal mount on the swim platform. The 348 has a pair of compartments in the platform, I put mine inside the starboard one. The only concern I have about the pedestal base is if you seal the underside to the decking (as their instructions suggest) you end up with water pooling in the center hole. If I had know this I would have put a couple of drainage slits in the bottom of the base. Otherwise it's very handy. I've used mine three times now and it's great.

We have mounted our grill (on both the Sundowner, and now the 268V0, fully overboard. this way ALL drippings (if any) are outside of the boat, plus it is not in the ay of any traffic. I have good access standing just inside of the transom door.

I don't have a photo of the current install, but I put the mounting plate on the outside of the hull, just to the rear of the port side FW logo, under the two small vent heads. The mount comes with a mounting arm that pops in & out of the mount plate and secures to the bottom of the grill.

In this photo, you can see the mount plate on the starboard side of the hull, about 18" to the rear of the end of the windshield), on the 245 Sundowner:

Yes, http://www.ideaspace.net/boat/images/grill

This is the grill looking at it from the port side:

You may note that I did not install it dead center in the compartment. There's a reason for this. The post is positioned such that I can close the compartment door far enough to allow access to the shore power locker. There's a water hose in that locker. You can just make it out at the far left, just above the shore power cord. In this picture you can see the door being able to swing open and still clear the compartment lid:

^^Nice setup. Anybody know if they made that utility bar an option on the 248 yet? I might look into having one made. It's removable at the base right?

Finally got some photo's. This was the fastest way for me to mount my grill. It is a little high but it works. I do have to worry about people touching it while it is still hot. But it has not been a problem.

Here's a picture of one on my 278. When I cook I turn it so the kettle is over the water to prevent drips on the boat.

I originally had the fishing rod mount which I used on the swim platform but with the grill mounted it was dangerous to move around when that grill was hot so I wanted something that gave me flexibility to be able to install and remove it. I went with the Flush Deck Rotating Socket Mount (A10-126). The stainless detent pin lets the grill rotate and lock in 8 different positions allowing it to be moved inboard and outboard. It is super simple to remove and has a rain cap for when not in use.

with the rod portion in mount.
