I don't have any photos yet, but I have the ESP, Ladder Hatch and Engine Hatches glued down. I am going boating tomorrow so the companionway, helm and rear filler piece will have to wait till next week. I have to say it was fairly easy.. The glue is messy and will get everywhere so lots of denatured alcohol is your friend. Once all the panels are glued down I need to do a 1/4" caulk line around all the panels and that's all she wrote!

Oh and hey Bill.... It was 94 here today and the teak was in the sun ALL day and guess what? It was NOT HOT...

Yeah, well, I reserve the right to trot out "I told you so..." when you're dancing like a native across hot coals in the middle of this summer...

It does look nicer than non-skid gelcoat, I'll grant you that. But even this past weekend it was too damned hot to walk on it. If they've managed to reformulate it somehow that avoids the excessive heat then congratulations. I'd definitely revise my completely negative assessment of it were I to actually encounter a setup that stayed cool enough to walk on with bare feet. But in the meanwhile I just waste a couple of gallons of fresh water on it from the transom hose. Cools it long enough to get the grilling done...

I swear, mine doesn't get hot, it barely even gets warm to the touch. I don't see there being much of a change from 94 degrees to 110 the sun was bearing down directly on it all day. It was nothing more than "warm" I am very pleased with that! Flexi must for some reason develop more surface temp than the Plasdeck.

So do you feel it's still worth it to fork over 900+ for the ESP? Granted I spend most of my time in the water and the ESP is therefore almost always wet.. Thanks for the pic man the AC is now done! I actually think the windlass was a little more difficult but maybe that was because i didn't know the boat that well last year when I put it in.

EDIT: Another vote against crocks Brett, as a bachelor you should know better! Crocks come with a lifetime guarantee... a guarantee of no arse for a lifetime!!

Sorry for the late reply. I am actually sitting in Nags Head NC. Right now (going out on a 52' sport fisher on Thursday). Anyway, yes I do feel it was worth it and yes I would do it again. It cerainly added a lot of class to the boat and it will be much easier to care for than the stupid whit non skid was!

There isn't much to see, it pretty much looks the same as all the photos I posted only when its all done there will be a quarter inch caulk line around all the panels.

how do you go about glueing it down? Is it similar to doing laminent?

Bren,

Yep! You lay down the pieces and get them lined up, mask around the deck with 3M blue painters tape. Pull up the pieces, cut open the bostik adhesive and spread it out with a trowel so that you have full coverage. Lay the piece down as closely to final location as possible. You can move the piece aroind slightly after it has been laid. Roll the piece out with the special roller (or a rolloing pin) peel up the painters tape before the adhesive starts to skin over!
