Have a 2004 Vista 288 and need to order a new anchor roller and chute. FW quotes $321 and I have to believe that I can do much better. Does anyone know the original mfg. of that part and how easy it will be to replace?

Thanks,

Jay

Jay, call FW customer service and they will tell you the manufacturer. You will probably be able to find one else where for fewer $.

Mine is slightly bent courtesy of a Dockmaster who cleated a bow line off when he was asked to just hold it. I was crabbing the boat to the dock and didn't expect the bow not to swing. When the line went taught it swung the bow into a piling.

Thanks JValich for all of the advice. Mine is mangled. damage from the last hurricane. Still functions but ugly!

Curious how much anchor chain you have on your 288? My plow anchor is not holding. Are you using the stock anchor?

Best,

Jay

Yes. It holds fine. The trick is to get it set properly and use the right scope. Lower the anchor at the point you want is set at. Slowly back away as you leave out rode. When about 1/2 the distance of the rode you are planning to use, stop the release and back down a touch more. You should have snubbed the anchor and set it. The contunue backing while leaving out rode to the distance you want.

I looked into buying one for my 238. Just as a add on, never had one. Yes the FW model was over $300. I looked around and found others but I never found one like the FW model. I think they are made for them for that model boat. None of the after market ones were even close to the FW model. The FW model was much nicer.

If you do find something that matches the OEM one please let me know.

Thx
