I will start it by saying this may be a dumb question. Sunday we had some nasty thunder storms. We ended up having our cable knocked out. We decided to grab a DVD and watch instead. I put it in to the DVD player and no matter what I tried I couldn’t get it to be viewed on the TV. I could hear the DVD spinning, but the TV kept saying no signal. I tried every input available.

What was I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance. Bill

Lets start from the beginning. I notice your boat is an 08 and brand new. Have you ever used the DVD player before w/o issue?

I have used it without issue. I did have to change the input source on the TV. I tried that again without any luck.

If the DVD loads vertically, and it is built in to the TV, trying putting it in with the label facing the opposite direction.

Does the DVD player look like it is playing the DVD? If so, when you put the DVD to play do you hear sound? Could it just be a loose video cable?

It sounds like it is playing. I will check the cables when I got up on Friday. I am hoping it is something easy like that.

Thanks

My guess is that being it is so new it is something simple you may have overlooked. Has happened to me in the past. Check all connections and make sure the cables are not loose.

If you still have problems try to isolate where the issue is. Either the input on the TV, the cable or the dvd player would then be the issue. If you have a portable dvd player and a set of cables take it with you and see if u can isolate where your issue is.

Wish I could be more help.

Bill, what dvd player do you have? I can't remember the brand on mine but I know that sometimes when I turn the DVD player on, it tries to be a TV. The DVD player actually has a TV tuner built in and without an antenna it just give a blank screen. I think the power button on the DVD remote actually cycles through the modes, until you get to DVD. I thought for sure my DVD player was busted when I first tried it. I put a DVD in the player and it wouldn't even grab it, it just slid in.

I think the company is something like Merek. My played does the same thing. I found the best way to load it is to push the dvd in half way and hit the eject button. Otehrwise it doesn't seem to pull it in enough. I was very frustrated with it Sunday night. We took monday off and were staying on the boat when the thunder and lightning started. We turned the tv off and waited until it seemd to be over. After 15 minutes of watching the olympics a crack of thunder and lighning together seemed to be directly above us. The tv flickered and the cable went out. I checked a few cable outlets in teh marina ansd they were all out. I went out later to see if anything had been hit, and found quite a few GFI outlet's had been tripped.

Well that is when I tried to use the DVD played with no luck. Maybe with a fresh outlook I wioll be able to get it working.

You missed the light show.

Thanks Bill

Bill,

Not sure what TV you have, but for mine to play a DVD the TV has to be selected to the "video" source, not the "DVD" source
