Good morning,

Hoping someone can provide a quick measurement of how high from the 'floor' the cabinet door edge is. Looking to replace the foam pads with something more comfortable and want to know how thick I can go without blocking access to the cabinet/AC unit.

Thanks!

We just added a memory foam pad with a pillow-top cover that is about 4-5 inches thick on top of the original mattresses. The foot locker doors will open, although we may ned to push them down against the extra pad. We've been doing this since 2013. If desired, we can fold the added foam pad in half toward the starboard side, and stack the port side original mattress on top of the other mattress and pad. The extra padding makes a lot of difference. These memory foam pads can be found on line for anywhere from maybe $125 to 300. One of the others on this site had matresses custom made. A search may give more info.

Perfect, thanks Gary.

I bought a queen mattress that I'm going to put in there to replace the factory foam. I'm thinking I can either shave a bit of the mattress down (its in a zippered pouch) or I will flip the cabinet door so it hinges at the bottom.

So your doors hinge at the top? Mine on our 2002 268 hinge at the bottom. Even with the extra thickness of the pad, the doors can be pulled down against the pad. You indicate one door. You must have AC?

Yes mine hinge at the top. Interesting; running change I guess! I do have AC.

I bought an IKEA foam (rolled) mattress and once it's in it's probably never coming out :) Will figure it out this weekend and report back the successes and/or failures.
