I HAVE A '07 358 VISTA AND AM TIRE OF THE INACCURATE FARIA ANALOG GAUGES. I'M CONSIDERING INSTALLING THE VESSEL VIEW 4 OR 5 CONTROLLER AND I'M CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT EXPERIENCES OTHERS HAD INSTALLING THEIR VESSEL VIEW CONTROLLER.

I'M RUNNING TWIN MERCRUISER MX 6.2 SMARTCRAFT DTS 320HP ENGINES.

- CAN YOU TELL ME IF THE WIRING HARNESS BEHIND THE DASH WAS RIGHT THERE TO PLUG THE CONTROLLER INTO?
- DID YOU NEED TO ORDER ANY ADDITIONAL WIRING IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FUEL DATA (CONSUMPTION AND FUEL LEVELS)?
- WHAT ELSE WAS NEEDED OR STEPS DID YOU NEED TO COMPLETE TO INSTALL THE CONTROLLER?
- ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE FINAL PRODUCT?

ANY COMMENTS ON YOUR EXPERIENCES WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS.

I have the 2007 278 Vista with a left over 2006 6.2L Merc engine.
I too wanted detailed engine and fuel info.
I purchased the Mercmonitor smart gauge and engine harness adapter cable.
You will need one for each engine.
Plugs right into the engine diagnostic port. You do have to run the cable up to the dash.
I replaced my speedo and plugged the hose at the back of the dash.
Provides digital tach, engine hours, volts, trim, fuel consumption in both gph and mpg and a whole lot more. You do have to hook a wire to the output of your gps to get the fuel consumption in mpg and your speed readout.

Also, if you have 2007 engines with electronic throttle (instead of throttle cables like on the 2006 engine), then you can even use cruise control function. Set speed and it will come up on plane and maintain.

Best investment I made for my boat.
Quickly allowed me to find my best fuel economy which is 2.0 mpg at 30 mph at 4000 rpms.
Also, now I know exactly how much fuel I have used and how far I can still go.

Good luck.

I put the Merc SmartTach's on my 318 and they were plug and play - showed fuel flow info as well.

I have a 2007 358 with 6.2 Mercruisers. I recently installed the Vesselview mobile. Was very easy. Removed Raymarine, SmartView junction box was easily accessible (one for port, one for starboard, each marked with red or green tape.) Plugged module into empty spot on Starboard junction. Very different readings than the gauges (e.g. temp is 15 degrees hotter on gauges).

It was a very easy install, just be sure to find a non hot-spot to mount it, it comes with black tiewraps. Mine loses BT connection now and then, I have to mount it above the cowling with some velcro. I think that'll help.

But having the time to tuneup on parts and the error codes (in English) is a lifesaver. Well, worth the money.

Any pictures of the finished product? Where did you purchase from?

Thanks!
