Curious, has anyone on any Four Winns or Vistas added a MercMonitor or replaced a tach to fit a mercmonitor? Is it plug and play in the NMEA connection? I have a 2016 FW v275 with Mercruiser 6.2l. Is it just a network cable under the dash? How does one remove the gauges? or do they sell an external device which works wirelessly or mounted separately?

Thanks,

I took the plunge and bought the MobileView from merc BT module:

I removed my speedo and installed the mercmonitor on my 2007 Vista 278. Works great. I had to install and run the engine diagnostic cable from the engine to the back of the gauge. I also had to run a wire from my GPS to the mercmonitor.
Should give you cruise control as well since yours is electronic throttle.
I highly recommend it if you don't have digital flat panel gauges.

As for removal, drop the front instrument panel (screws on the edges) and then remove the bracket for the gauge on the back that holds it in.

Thank you for the reply. I'll have to see the route for the cable if I do get the in-dash model. For now, trying the bluetooth model for use with the mobile app. I am guessing the tach-to-gps connection is the NMEA bus. Did all the cables required come with the official MercMonitor kit? I'll have to pop off the dash to take a look at it sometime.

I think I had to buy the cable separate because my boat does not have NMEA.
I think it will just plug in to the network in your case. Do some reading on the Merc website.

Weekend update, pics, to come. I was able to install the VesselView, Merc mobile, bluetooth module on my 2016 v275, lesson learned, always use the terminator which came off the boat, not the one which came in the BOX! If you do, it'll just try and try to connect, never making it past 25% connecting...

Not bad, the app install on an ipad and iphone worked ok, minimal hassle, other than setting up an account. If you only want the basic information, you don't need an account.

My only complaint is that the connection dropped several times and had to reconnect, it did it automatically usually. I may try to mount the unit via high test velcro over the plastic cowl/cover vs on the electrical box under the cover. Unsure if this will help. For $260 it was worth it since I can see any errors or faults right from my phone.

Nonetheless, still great to see time to tuneup, last tuneup, hours, errors and faults, and GPS. WOT was 21.9 GPH on my 6.2l. Woof.
