Has anyone figured out an easy way to manually drain the fresh water tank on a V275?

My water pump failed while I was winterizing the boat. I have ordered a new pump, but it is getting cold so I would like to drain the tank sooner rather than later. Right now it looks like disconnecting the line at the pump might be my only option, but there is quite a bit of water in the tank so I don't want to create huge mess in the cabin trying to drain the tank.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could plumb a T in right before the pump with a cap or valve. A threaded T with a garden hose thread would be best.
You don't have to put a T in, you can just unhook the feed from the pump every time if you want.
Then you can hook a small hose up and drain into a bucket or use an external pump and pump overboard. I always bring my $10 drill pump attachment and cordless drill when I winterize. Comes in very handy.

Also your pump shouldn't have a problem pumping the whole tank. Check your water pressure, maybe the pressure switch is faulty and the pump is trying too hard. You shouldn't need more than 30-40lbs or so.

I was hoping that Four Winns had already provided an easy solution, but I think you are correct and I'll need to add a "T" to make it easier to empty the tank.

Most of the people I know just let it drain into the bilge then let the bilge pump drain it and shop vac the rest.
I just let the pump drain it but try to time it so there isn't too much left at the end of the season. The pump is hard to get to for me so I don't want to deal with the connection.
