Okay, the new part I'm not confused about :D , but you see I'm looking at this boat to purchase and the listing states that it is a 1989 Vista 258.
However, I can not find any production listing for a "258" having been made, only the 255 Vista which looks identical.
Would anyone be able to set me straight with the models made way back in 89?

I believe you are correct. The Four Winns site does have a catalog from 1989 that shows 255, but not 258.

Thanks for the confirmation I'm not nuts!
I wonder how many 89 255 Vista owners there are on this site? When I Google for the model, the is pretty much zero hits, kinda makes me think they only made a handful and I'm looking at one of them.

Look carefully. Specifically these old FWs have a lot of wood and unless stored in the arid southwest or indoors you will find rot. It is just a fact of old boat life.
Also if it has OMC Cobra power as many FWs did, be aware of the fact that many shops will not work on these.

Thanks for much for the advice as it seems that these two points are a very frequently mentioned and vital to be aware of! I haven't started tapping around on the hull yet...and I'm not too afraid of doing my own drive work so I'll keep you posted on what I discover.
Thanks again Lou!
