Happy Spring Everyone.
Just purchased a new to me 2007 318 vista with the twin 5.7 GI Engines. Has anyone found a good way to get at the starboard engine for oil change. I haven't tried yet but was just curious. Easy enough to change the oil filter and draw the oil out through the dip stick tube but putting fresh oil in at the oil fill is under the decking...

Thanks.

Not knowing how much clearance you have under the deck, you're best option might be a fluid transfer pump such as this:

That is a great idea... I haven't tried yet but just looking at the available space it would be a really tight fit to get in there. not sure if there would be enough room to put funnel and tip the oil bottle without hitting the underside of deck....the transfer pump would work great...wouldn't even need a funnel. Thank you for responding.

Tom.

Funnel with a hose shoved on it.

That would work too.

Thank you.

If you wanted to look at something a bit more permanent than using a transfer pump or funnel with a hose, take an idea from a Class C motorhome...

The pic below shows a Ford V10 crammed into the small space of a van-cab chassis. The stock oil fill is mostly unreachable. But you'll notice there is a hose w/ a cap attached that creates a remote fill location. You could do something similar with your setup.

I like the more permanent solution...If I can find an angled extension tube like that...a long funnel I think I would be good to go.

Thank you for your response,

Tom.

That entire panel above the starboard engine will unscrew and slide over....on my '08 V318 it had two big latches from the factory (vs the 20+ screws on the '07s) holding it in place....and there was an access panel the middle of it so I could easily access the oil fill. I'd look at installing an access hatch in the bottom of it.

Check my pics and do not have a picture of it - sorry.

Hey Firecadet613,
Thank you for the info on the access to the starboard engine. I did get the engine oils and filters changed out and was checking out just what you had mentioned in your post... Thank you for the info.
that will work out perfect for access to that side of the engine if I have to get to anything other then oil fill or changing out the generator exhaust hose to which I have to do soon. I wish I had the updated version with the two latches for easier access but even with having to remove all the screws won't take very long.

Thank you again for your reply.

Tom.
