Post subject:  358 starboard engine access?

Hi all,

I’m trying to follow the original post from wkearney99 titled “How to get into the starboard outside of a 348 engine compartment.” (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3431) The written description is excellent, but unfortunately the photos are no longer hosted.

I’m in the process of replacing my water heater and could really use those pictures (or any similar ones) to better understand how to gain access to the starboard outboard side of the engine compartment.

If anyone has the original photos saved, screenshots, or has done this job before and can share a few reference pictures, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there, i don't have pics, and i have a 338 with hot water tank issues. Not sure if this will help but let me know. With my boat, you first need to take off the lounge pad that runs the starboard side. Then raise the hatch and leave it up. Then remove the support fiberglass piece that the seat sits on---it has about 8 screws into the sub floor.
Then remove the subfloor by turning the two levers in the top of the subfloor and remove that as well.
At that point you can see the heater and have a lot better access but its still a miserable job.

AGain, this is for a 338, assuming it is similar for the 358 as the tank sounds like its in the same spot.
