New here, this is a nice forum. I am making an offer on a 2000 268 Vista Cruiser. My only concern with the boat is the fuel tanks. The owner thinks they are fiberglass but I'm not sure. Here in Oregon recently our fuel was required to have ethanol added. I have read some bad stuff about the ethanol and fiberglass tanks. Has this been a problem with the Four Winns? |

My guess would be Aluminum or (most likely) HDPE (High-density polyethylene) Fiberglass tanks are rare, usually found in much older Bertrams. Ethanol is still bad.... (in general) but shouldn 't be an issue for your tanks. |

Generally speaking I thought that most major boat builders stopped using fiberglass tanks in 1990. If your having the boat surveyed, just ask you surveyor to check for you. |

Thank you for the replies. I also just received the following from Four Winns Quote: We have never manufactured any of our products using fiberglass fuel cells. The fuel tank on this model was manufactured with a plastic tank, and has been tested by the OEM, and proven not to have any ill affects on the engine, or the tank, as a result of using oxygenated fuels. We currently use plastic tanks to this day. They also attached some good information on Ethanol and Four Winns winterizing tips, if you want me to post them let me know. |

Please post any good info from FW. I was going to say, before you buy the boat, just open the hatch to the motor, the fuel cell sits in the bilge right in front of the motor, you can see what it is made out of. While you are there, take the dipsticks out and look at all fluids, make sure they look good. Good luck. |
