I have a 248 Vista with an extended platform. The ladder cover is is held in place by 8 stainless steel screws that are screwed into the fiberglass of the platform. Here is the issue... The screws have backed out so much that now the holes are stripped out. I have already gone to wider screws but I do not want to continue the downward sprial of wider screws.

Has anyone had this same problem? Has anyone tried anchors of some kind? I don't think I can drill through the platform and bolt them because the holes follow the length of the platform (unless I drill out the holes at an angle.)

Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks.

I would remove the cover, fill the holes with Martex or Formula 27 and redrill them.

Since the Martex and/or Formula 27 is indestructable and has a working time of a few minutes you could easily have the repair done in less than 1 hr

I would think its time to move up to a new boat. One with a ladder door with no problems. :D
