Post subject: | New Vista owner with some questions. |
Hello to all, I just bought a '86 Vista that shows to be 23' on the registration. It has the forward cabin, back to back, fold down captians and copilot seats, single sink, fridge and closet for a port a potty, Mercruiser 260, Alpha outdrive and power steering. I would like to know specifically what model the boat is for future reference, parts location and so I can try to fiind the correct manual. I also noticed that there is a 110V cord under the port side couch that looks to be coming from the fridge, will the fridge run off of 12V as well as 110V? I don't see anywhere to plug it in under the couch, so I assume I would have to run an extension cord to shore power? The head is missing and I would like to replace it. Anyone know of a direct replacement model that fits well, or do I just have to measure and start looking? The boat is in overall good condition and on a trailer. 700hrs. Needs a little love, but should come around with mostly elbow grease. I paid $2K, seemed like a good deal...any input? Thanks for any and all help, I'm sure I'll be back, Doug in Colorado |

Hi Doug - Welcome & congratulations! You can start by going to http://www.fourwinns.net. That's the site that features brochures, owner's manuals and specs on boats back to 1976. I took a quick peek at 1986 and didn't see a specific "Vista" model that year, but poke around and hopefully you'll find the match to your boat. The old brochures are cool to look at in any event. Best of luck! |

Congratulations on your new boat. I will be the first to kindly remind you that we want to see pictures! ![]() As for the head replacement from your post it is not clear if you have just a port o potty or a marine head but if you have the latter you want to look at Jabsco http://www.jabsco.com/products/marine/index.htm The fridge if it is like the one on my boat will operate on 12V DC and 110V AC depending on what is available. |

Sounds to me like a 235 Sundowner. Like this ? http://www.fourwinns.net/brochure/1986/cc/p8s235.pdf |

Thanks Cap'n Morgan, you are right and I stand corrected, it is a Sundowner. Looks like I'll be switching forums. Too bad for me, this one looks alot more active. Thanks for all the help, Doug |
