Has anyone had a problem with water pressure or flow? I am fine when hooked up to shore water connection but when under way and using the house pump the pressure and flow is very poor. It was fine to begin with but on our last trip it had a hard time even flushing the head. Does anyone know if there is a strainer at the pump? I think there is a check valve that allows shore water to flow so that doesn't back feed to storage tank but I am stumped. I can hear the pump run and it does seem to satisfy the pressure switch because it does shut off. I checked the cockpit ice maker and it was making small cubes so it isn't getting the water it needs either. Any clues? |

My 328 has a in-line filter at the pump. I'd check there first. If clean the only other thing I can think of would be a blockage in the tank or vent. Good luck. |

Our 268 also has a strainer on the inlet of the pump, does the pump run for an extended period of time before it satisfy's the pressure switch? Another place to look on the pressure side is the back flow check valve could be sticking allowing some water past it but not full flow of the pump. Not sure how hard the house water pump is to get at on the 318, on our 268 it is pretty easy to remove the pump line where it tees into the main cold water line. With the plastic lines, just push the line towards the connector, push in the collar to release the line. Once unhooked, run the pump into the bilge and see how the flow is. That should norrow it down to a suction or pressure side problem. |

Hey Jeff, The pump was tough to get to but I found that the check valve had stuck and was only letting a little water pass. I used your input and removed the hose connections to get to the check and freed it. I think the last time I hooked up to shore water I might have opened the valve to quick. I think a word of warning may be to open slowly. |

Thanks for the info on your product. Does it work as a PRV so that the on board system does not over pressurize? I think what happened is that the marina we stayed at had very high water pressure at the dock and it just set the check valve back so hard it stuck. To save that from happening again would be well worth it. |

It doesn't reduce pressure, there is a pressure regulator (most likely perko) that reduces the city water pressure to under 35PSI. If that regulator fails or you have another type of leak such as a failure at the hot water tank, the unit will shut the water off after a specified volume. I had one person nearly loose his million dollar yacht because of a failure at the hot water tank. Fortunately a person on the dock noticed the boat sitting low. Cost him big $ He bought two! I got the idea when we spent a week in Myrtle Beach one year. The dock master made sure we shut the water off as they had 4 boats sink from the high water pressure and the plumbing bursting. I got real tired of turning off the water while we slept and getting up to turn it on in the AM. |
