I've been looking at this boat, but have been warned about the OMC drive. Opinions? |

Call a few shops that work on I/Os in your area, find out if they work on Cobras, some do not, most of the parts for these are available still thru Bombardier (they bought OMC's assets when they went bankrupt) and a lot is out there in the aftermarket, but if you can't find someone to work on it that won't do you much good. If the Cobra drive is set up properly it will shift fine and last a long time. Keep in mind that although the drive is new the rest of the boat is 21 years old, and a lot of things may need atttention. The missing piece of glass, if the manufacturer is Water Bonnett, you mght be able to get. I got a couple pieces of missing windsheild glass for my 88 FW from them. The biggest issue with boats this age is wood rot and parts availability if the drive system is out of production. Check it carefully. If there is no one who knows OMCs do not take a chance on it . |
