Hello all,

I am a recently new 248 owner (bought at the tail end of last summer). The few times we were able to use the boat last year I noticed some grease on my wheels.

Before I make a 250 mile trip here in a few weeks, I would like to replace all of the bearings on my trailer. This way I will know they are done right and will learn how to do it for the future.

Does anyone have a VERY simple step by step guide on how to replace the bearings / seals etc? I'm not great with this stuff, but I can follow directions well. I also need some help in figuring out what I need to order for this job. I have no local trailer shops around, so everything will need to be ordered online.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Check out these videos on trailer bearing replacement and repacking. I think they are very useful...

i would use SKF brand, you can get them at napa. dont overlook the bearing races. and axel seals. i lost a whole wheel last summer because of the previous owners bad bearing maint. to replace the bearing races its a bitxh. i used a oxy/acetylene torch to heat them up then pounded them out. for all inner and outer bearings and races it cost me about 300.00 and a full day of work. i think the 248-268 trailers are underrated for the boat, so your asking a lot from trailer tires and bearings, i would only use the best. - Ryan
