Anyone have a flag pole mounted on the stern of their 348/358? I've been thinking of adding one but can't find the right place to mount one. There's not really a good place on the transom. Anyone have a setup they like for a stern mounted flag?

This is the factory location. It's a bayonet mount and the metal flag pole pushes the center piece down. Then you twist to lock. Very nice setup.

Yeah, that's about the best location. The starboard aft quarter gets the least amount of foot traffic since the transom entry is over on the port side.

Do you happen to know what brand pole and mount they're using for it?

And what're the other two chrome bits in that picture? There's an oval one in the middle and then a round one in the far right of the picture.

I don't know who makes the flag pole, I'll do a little digging. The shrink come off in two weeks.

To the right of the flag pole is the factory fishing rod holder, there is a matching one on the port side.

To the far right is a fender lock.

Oh, I thought the middle one was a BIG flagpole holder, gotcha. I've been considering whether I want to add rodholders or not. We don't fish so there's really not much need we'd have for them. I've seen flagpoles that fit in a rodholder, but I'd certainly prefer one that had a twist-and-lock sort of bayonet mount. One less thing to slip loose and fall overboard, right?

How are the fender locks? Been worth using for you? I've gotten by with a suction cup instead. Although it did get loose once, but a fellow slipmate made a dinghy run and retrieved the fender before it bobbed away.

Here's a pic with the flag pole in

We use the rod holders for salmon fishing and I will likely get a grill. Still on fence due to storage and mess issues.

As to the fender locks, I use them all the time. The back ones are handy, as there is no other place to tie a fender. I also have two in the front. They are not as needed, I could just as easily tie to the bow rails.

Thats fantastic. Any idea how hard it would be to install?

Shouldn't be all that difficult. Just use a hole saw to cut through the fiberglass, seal up the edges with epoxy and then screw down the holder with some 4200 (not 5200) sealant. The only time consuming parts would be letting the epoxy dry and then cleaning up the stray bits of fiberglass cuttings from the bilge below. And you DO want to clean up those bits, otherwise they'd get sucked into, and ruin, the main engine bilge pump (well, eventually anyway).

Mine were easy to install, I just wrote a check. That said, it look pretty easy once you get past drilling a big hole in your boat. Nevermind two or three. The fender locks are very easy, just drill a little pilot hole for each screw. I epoxied them in to seal the hole and prevent loose screws.

I opted for the quick & easy solution. Purchased bow rail mount type (for a burgee) and attached it to rail above rear storage compartment. I was loathe to drill a large hole.

Flag should be a little bigger but at least I fly one - seems like 99% of boaters don't. Do not understand that. Should be standard equipment from manufacturer.

I like that mount better than starboard transom stock mount. Flags mounted on the centerline of the boat look better IMO.
