Has anyone had any experience with carry on Ac? Pros and cons. Does it work well? I am sure it will be a pain in the ***, But cheaper than the install of regular AC. Just buying some time till its time to upgrade.

I have a friend that has been using a carry on for the last year with his Rinker 256. Has worked well. He is now putting in a real a/c. He was tired of dealing with it.

Pros:
> Cheaper initially
> It can be used with the boat out of the water. Comes in handy doing maintenance below during the week.

Cons
> Toting can be hazardous to your health aas they are heavy and awkward, especially moving to and from the foredeck.
> Storing it can be troublesome. On many boats it takes space that is normally at a premium
> Can't be used underway
> You have to stow it if you want to use your boat for an evening cruise after you have arrived at your destination and already set it up.
> Add no real value to the boat (IMHO)

Used one before I upgraded. They work really well since the put the cool air in from above and it drops down. They are akward to handle and store. Look for a used one. I bought mine used and sold it for what I had in it.
