Post subject:  Ocean Drive Engine Tilt Problems

I have heard that the OS drive has a problem with the bellows if one tilts the engine up too far. Apparently the bellows gets pinched and a tear develops. Volvo says you can't tilt beyond about 15 degrees which might be a problem in the Potomac River at low tide. Coming into our marina at low tide we just barely have enough draft in our current 26' cruiser. Has anyone heard about this problem? I'm in the market for a 318 and the more I learn, the more concerned I am about getting one equipped with an Ocean Drive.

I don't have any info on that but have seen some threads on that topic. What marina are you at? I'll be at Hope Springs this summer.

I'm right next door to Pilot House at Hampton's Landing with a 378 Vista (draft 44") and I've never had a problem at low tide. There are even bigger boats in and out of Neabsco Creek that don't have a problem. You may see some mud stirring behind you, but it's certainly not a problem.

^^ Good to hear Jerry. Sounds like there's going to be some NICE vista's all in close proximity this summer. Myself and another 338 at Hope Springs. Potomac FW raft up?? At the very least hope to meet you. I've only boarded a 378 at a show.
