Just got back from Smitty's Marina and paid for a slip for the season with shorepower and water, $1092.00

They are down there right now working feverishly to get the docks in and he said it will be open to put the boat in next weekend.

This is certainly new territory for me!

your gonna use the boat a hell of a lot more than the 2 times last year! Congrats. Now you have a whole week to get her ready. Get to work!

I am kind of new to this forum. Read it all the time for advice. We are the proud owners of a 08 Vista 288. We dock at Washingtons Landing. Where is Smittys? Maybe we can all meet up for a beverage or two!

Welcome hockey!

Congrats Brett!

Once you go slip - you will never go back because of how much more you will use your boat.

Although - plan on pulling it out every 6-8 weeks for a quick bottom clean, otherwise things could get green below the water line!

hockeygoon,
You are going to love the V288. What color, options, pictures?

Good luck and welcome.

Bill

Brett,
You are going to love having a slip. It makes those quick rides worth it. It is also fun just hanging at the slip at times.

Take care Bill

Nice Brett! I george foreman guarentee (which happens to be the highest form of a guarentee) that you'll love your boat even more now :D That's a really good price too.

Hey Hockeygoon,

Smitty's is in the Charleoi pool, right off the Speers exit on I-70. I forget what river mile it is exactly, I'd have to look it up on the charts, something like river mile 69 or something.

I will keep tabs on the bottom to see how she weathers the summer and pull as necessary, I do not plan on bottom painting her.

don't bottom paint if you don't have to.

Cause once you go painted, you can never go back.

Cougar,

Yeah I'm with you, no bottom paint for me! The river is fairly clean and anything that does build up on the hull will come off with Easy Off or Mary Kate... Sure it's going to be more work, but maybe this season the boat will get used more than, twice! :)

Congrats Brett... You are going to love slip life.. I have made some good friends on the dock. Friends that I have carried into the off season. I have slipped my 2000 248 ever since I bought it...

On the bottom paint issue, I have black VC-17.. It looks good, and makes cleaning the bottom MUCH easier. I was a green bottom for years, and cleaning with muriatic acid was just a pain. I am in fresh water (Great Lakes) and just your boat sitting will green the hull up. Then it's up to you to spend a half day brushing it off.. Not hard work, but time. It all boils down to a matter of time and choice.

The best benefit for me (of having a slip) is taking off early on Friday heading out to the boat and not coming back until Monday morning.
