I came home from work tonight, came upstairs and found my father on the couch, he had passed away some time in the morning. My heart is broken right now, I can't even think straight, We just bought a slip for the boat, just ordered all the needed service stuff, planned on working on it this weekend and slipping it next. Instead, this...

I will be back, it just may not be for a while till I get this all sorted out. When I do get things sorted out I am going to sell the Vista and I will be pricing it right. My heart isn't it in now and I need to move on or at least take an extended hiatus for a while.

With Tears,
Brett

Dad,

I know you can see and hear me. I can only hope that I've made you proud. I miss you, I love you, and God Speed.

My condolences. Perhaps the only saving grace is he passed quickly not after a long and protracted debilitating illness.

My folks passed three weeks apart back in '96. The suddenness of it was about the only blessing. It's hard to lose them, but at least they went at a relatively up point in their lives. One was a heart attack, the other complications brought on by pneumonia. No warning for the my mother, about 6 hours of distress for Dad. It was a darned sight better for them and for us (my brother and I) to have the end come quickly.

For those of you that still have your folks, do not leave things unsaid. Get it out there now while they're still around. Otherwise you'll be stuck carrying it long after they die.

Good luck Brett.

-Bill

I'm sorry for your loss, Brett. Having your father as "your best friend" is something that not all of us can claim. (watery eyes as I think about that...).

Brett,

I'm sure all of our hearts go out to you. Sorry for you loss, and I hope that you can focus on the great memories during this time!

If there's anything you need - don't be afraid to pipe up. I'm sure all of us will help out as much as we can!

The great thing about boating, is that it will always be around when you are ready to come back.

I hope you'll continue to frequent the forums as time allows.

Best wishes,
Justin

Its hard to appreciate now but the damage you feel is in the loss of partner of a life very well lived. Evident in the images you share.
It's not so common anymore it seems for a parent and child to maintain a relationship as close as you appear to have been. How very fortunate for both of you up untill now. Its my biggest goal in life to have the same with my son.
I lost my mom just over 2 years ago in a way that echos your post so your loss burns my throat and blurs my sight. I still think of her frequently and miss her dearly. I know where you are Brett.
I appreciate what you had . . . and am very sorry for your loss.
Condolances for you and your family.

Brett,

I am very sorry to hear this news. When the dust settles, take a quiet cruise by yourself. Dedicate it to him and all the great memories you have had together on the boat.

We all take a lot of things for granted folks. EVERY time you drop your kids off from school, put them to bed, wave to your wife as she drives away from the house, ALWAYS leave them with kind words. You just never know when their time will come.

Brett, if you need anything, your online family is only a PM and a call away. Dont forget it. We all share the same joys in life. Even though most of us have not met, we are still a tight group of online buddies and are here for each other.

Prayers sent.

Brett, I am sorry for your loss, I lost my father in 1993 and he was my hero. I lost my mother a year ago on the 29th and I still talk to both of them everyday.
Blessings to you and your family.

Brett so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine. My best wishes to you and your family. Keep your head up! And keeping the Vista may be a way to keep him close to you.
