We spent our first night on the boat this weekend and ran into only 1 problem I can't seem to solve.

We have the manual head on our 2000 248 Vista. When the switch is to the left, the manual pump would not pull water into the bowl. I checked to see if the seacock was open and it was. Finally I closed the seacock, pumped the head a few times, opened the seacock and pumped again. This time I was able to get water to into the bowl. I figured the system just needed to be primed.

We woke up the next morning and the head was back to not pulling water. I got it working following the same procedure above, but was wondering if maybe there is a problem somewhere that is allowing the system to become un-primed. Any ideas? It really a pain to get in and out of the engine compartment!

Contact Jabsco tomorrow and explain it to them. They will likely send you a whole new pump for free. They did for me :)

buy a rebuild kit for $50 and replace all the gaskets and valves, it is very easy and takes less than an hr. We had the same thing happening, rebuilt it, and now it works better than ever.

remove the four screws from the top of the plunger take off the plate and you should see a rectangle shaped gasket. That's the joker gastet. I had the same problem with mine a couple of years ago.

I too recommend replacing all the gaskets and seals. Easy fix, must be done every few years to keep working in top shape.
