Need your help guys, on my 318 the galley sink, head floor drains and A/C all drain into the shower sump box. The problem I have is that pump will consistently cycle on for a few seconds then off, this happens about every 5 minutes and drives me crazy when trying to sleep. It looks like a bad design because the hose coming out of the pump goes up hill first before going out the STBD side of the boat, so water in the raised portion keeps filling the box back up, thus creating the "cycling" of the pump.

I know I have read about guys porting the galley sink drain directly overboard, but this wont solve my problem since the A/C dumps into this also.

Does anyone else have this problem and have you done anything to solve it. I thought about installing a in-line check valve to the discharge line but have not found one yet.

Any thoughts.

Jeff

Replace the joker valve to keep the water from coming back in

Should be where the pump is fitted into the outlet hose. It looks like a black o-ring until you take it off. Then you will see a little flapper in there that closes preventing back flow. I just got done disassembling my entire sump to clean it real good. (I hate other peoples yuck).
