My cockpit carpets are deteriorating badly. The black rubber backing is drying, cracking, and crusting off leaving black dusty grains that stick to the deck. The carpet top part is still in good condition. The cost of replacement is very high.

Does anyone know of any repairs for this?

Joe

Joe,

I have the same problem with my 2002 268. Saw a recent thread here on on another forum when people either left the carpet out or replaced it with a different type. I know this response doesn't help, but just to let you know you are not alone with this problem.

We just leave ours out. The heat and sun down here seems to kill it fast. Besides, as soon as I put it in, the kids spill something on it :x
