Greetz... I just finished installing a couple of oznium led lights. (oznium.com) So I guess I am ready to splash tomorrow. ![]() ![]() Here are some pic. This is a picture of the light screwed into the hull... I put them this close together because on the inside of the boat, in the engine compartment, that is where it is easily accessible and I didn't think I would drill into anything of importance. ![]() Here is closer view. The cat decided it need to help. Dropping the ceiling compartment made a big difference in running the wires from the dash board, fuse box and the back of the engine compartment. In the engine compartment I ran the wire around the water tank. Here is the fuse box in the 2006 Four Winns Vista. Here is the led lights installed and chalked. Almost done. Finished product I will follow up with some picture of the boat in the water. I am still waiting for the toggle switch, right now I am using a toggle switch from WalMart. I'll post that as well. Hope this help some other folks thinking doing the LED project. Happy Boating. |

why did you go with these two lights vs a strip of LEDs? This is a project I want to do very soon, would like to see your night photos as well. |

powellcrazy -- there was no real reason going with the these led's bulbs over the strip. looking back now, i would have only had to drill one hole instead of two with the led bulbs. i think that one that i have install will be brighter and will show further back on the boat. i am not sure how the green will contrast on the water, but i will find out tonight. if i can get some decent night pictures i will post them... my camera is not that good. also, noticed i installed these above the water line... it is less worry... scott |

Interesting they did not design the spotlights to allow the wiring to go through the hull behind the unit itself. Thus having no wires exposed on the outside of the boat. The pics on their website look like your lights will be nice and brite. Good work. |

Are these lights not meant to be submersed? |

Thanks CaptM. I guess if installed above the waterline as Scott did you would get more of a spread glow versus the beams you see on their website. That should look pretty cool! Looking forward to your update w/ pics Scott. |

Yes... they can be submerged... I just didn't feel comfortable drilling holes in my boat and having them below the water line, too. ![]() |

I went down to the marina last night... and my camera did really capture the lights, I think the camera flash is hurting the pic. . It might not have been dark enough... They do look really cool. I'll try again this weekend. I did notice that I had to have the outdrive straight. If I had it turn to one side it will block the led light. So if you're going to install them you might want to spread them out. The do work well above the water line. |
