We're relocating to Georgia - St. Marys specifically - in July. We have discussed taking the boat or leaving here it here as our "Michigan cottage." This season the boat will stay here.

I don't have any quotes yet on having it shipped down but I'm guessing it would be $7000 or more. U.S. Boat has a transportation bid website I'm going to check out.

Several friends told me I should pilot it down to Georgia - which sounds great - but I haven't figured out the cost on that either. In addition, I think I would want/need a co-pilot who has cruised from here to there to take on that adventure.

Another cost I haven't obtained yet (but will next month) is a well in St. Marys. My sense is that ticket will be more than what I spend here for summer/winter.

In any event, just thought I would throw this out for discussion, comments, etc.

Sail it down.. It will be an experience of a lifetime and you will learn new things about boating you may never experience again.

My 2 Cents..

Leave it up in Michigan to enjoy until you get totally settled in down where you are at. THen, when you have some time to spare, work on a plan to get it down there. Probably, during an off season.

uShip is a great site for shipping.

I would say leave it for the season and get your move all settled.

Then, as the season starts to turn cool (but not too late), grab another experienced boater and sail her to her new port. That would be a chance in a lifetime experience that I bet you never forget.
