I know if anyone would know you guys would. I had a question asked about my boat. A perspective buyer is asking if a generator could be added. I was wondering if anyone has done this or has anyone had it done by a dealer? I have also heard of people using a Honda generator that is placed on the swim platform with an electrical hook up on the transom. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Bill |

I have used a Honda generator on my previous small cruiser. There are plenty of heated discussions an many different boating forums about the safety of this. So a portable generator can be done as long as someone understands the dangers involved. Primarily, fuel storage and CO generation and is dangers. I can't speak on the addition of a genset to a 288 but in many small cruisers installation requires an engine removal. An expensive addition IMO. |

Yes it can be added. Might take some engine puling to shoe horn a gen set in their, but it can be done. I would just guess the cost for install, complete with genny, would be $8 to $10K. This 288 has a 5kw genset for reference. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2008- ... a-94780996 |
