Had my Kohler genset serviced recently. New impeller, fluid, plugs etc. when using the genset and a/c we are encountering and odd smell like sulfur or rotten eggs.

This is not an issue when using the a/c on shore power. Only when the genset is in use.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jay

Could it be just the water your in getting heated from the exhaust and the smell being enhanced? If the genset is running well I wouldn't worry too much.

Jvalich,

Got into the bilge below the bed in the aft cabin. Cap on A/C strainer is leaking and as a result the smell in the bilge is horrible and is indeed the same smell we have experienced whent the genset runs. Funny though, it does not smell when the AC is running off of shore power only when the genset runs. Any idea why? Both strainers are located in the same space. Smels a bit like sewage but can't be as I do not see any lines from the head running through there.

By the way, have thunder Marine (new FW dealer in St. Pete) doinga mobile warranty call to replcae the top fittings on the strainer. FW will covert he cost of the trip under warrantt.

Jay, aboout twice a year I clean the area out. fill with some water, add a bit of bleach and/or simple green and then pump out and dry it. It's also a good time to clean out the shower sump as well. You will also find that the two side compartments drain int o the center through to limber holes.

Ge the strainer fixed and give the are a good cleaning and dry it out. You should be fine then.
