Anybody have this issue? I knew that my ac outlet was dead then I tried to turn on the freezer and it also isn't working. Is there a connection in the engine room or something simple that could have been overlooked? Seems like this might be a simple fix but I haven't really investigated it yet.

Gotta run it under AC. I don't think it runs on DC. Shore Power or generator only.

However, the circuits are hooked together.

Usually the galley and cockpit fridge/freezer are AC/DC. Don't own a 338 so I am not positive, but most other boats so equipped are AC/DC operation.

My cockpit icemaker not only needs to be turned on at the breaker, but on the icemaker itself there is an on/off switch that must be turned on. I guess they do this since my battery charger and bilge heater are hooked up to the cockpit icemaker power supply and they didn't want the icemaker running 24/7. Also, my cockpit outlet won't work unless the outlet breaker is turned on.

My cockpit fridge is wired with the nearby AC outlet which is GFI. So when the GFI trips neither the outlet or the fridge get any AC. Check any outlets for GFI.

Our cockpit frig is AC/DC. I will check our AC panel to verify which breaker runs this frig. I can't remember, did you end up with the icemaker of did they swap it out for the standard frig?

I know its the same AC breaker that controls the outlet under the port side seat that runs the frig circuit.

Most freezer-only or icemakers run off AC only. It's the fridge (pathetic little) freezer combos that can run off both AC and DC. Being aware, of course, that the fridge running will drain a lot of power from a DC battery.

It's odd to see the battery charger not on it's own breaker. The 348 has a circuit just for that. This allows running that alone. I pull power from the icemaker outlet to run a bilge heater, but I unplug the icemaker. It's exceptionally unlikely I'm going to be needing both bilge heat AND fresh ice... That and I don't even know if the breaker would support both. Not something I've ever bothered to check.

Thanks guys. I'm willing to bet it's related to the GFI on the outlet. I tried to reset it and it doesn't want to click in as they normally do. I bet if I take it out of the loop I'll be up and running. I'll give it a shot.

Um, that's a bad place not to have a GFCI. They do fail, that's true, but they do serve a valuable purpose when installed and functioning properly. Especially in the above decks area. At around $10 they among the cheaper parts you're ever likely to be replacing.

Hey Brendan - how are you dealing with your warranty with purchasing from Florida? Is there a local FW that is going to help you out?

There is a dealer who bought out another former dealer's inventory at the marina and subsequently became a FW dealer. He sold a 318 and 338 that the former dealer had. He is the one bringing in the 408 in July. They are working to get approval from FW to do the warranty repairs but their POC hasn't gotten back to them yet. I'll probably have to call FW today to find out what the deal is..
