Gear lube monitor leak on 2005, 268 Vista has been fixed by owner. 90 degree quick disconnect fitting was broken. If anyone is interested I took photos of disassembly and can captionize them. Send an e-mail and I can forward the info. BIG TIP!!! I installed an access hatch in the transom storage compartment. Without this access it would have been an engine removal to replace an $8.00 fitting. There are also a couple grease fittings in there that can now be reached. The 248's and bigger boats are probably the same.

I can fix most anything, but haven't figured out how to attach photos to this application. My power is a 5.7 litre MPI Mercruiser with a Bravo 3 outdrive. Haven't captionized the pix yet either.

I think this is the piece that popped on my brand new boat. They were going to replace it today. I'd definitely like to see some pics. Is it plastic?

Yes, the fitting is plastic, I can e-mail pictures but can't post them here. Not worth the trouble.

posting photos in this thread is going to be easier than emailing to many whom would like to see them. Please reconsider and post as it may help more boaters than you think. You have already teased us with info, now show us!
Someone may find this thread in the future and if it had photos attached would be helpful, as you may no longer be around.

Goto webshots or photobucket and create an account, upload your photos into an album there, copy link to photo, paste link in post. Easy.

http://s758.photobucket.com/albums/xx227/dln_2009/ Here are my pictures. I have them also in an excel spreadsheet that looks better. It is easier for me to take that aproach but the file is around 15MB. hard to e-mail that much stuff. If this doesn't work I give up. If anyone really needs this info I would gladly burn it to a CD and mail it out. Let me know if it works.

I was cleaning out the bilge yesterday and one of these broken fittings came floating into reach. I'm wondering and assuming that since it was floating in there it must have been a broken and dropped part from a previous repair. I understand they are cheesy and break, but can't imagine that if it did break, it would come detached from where it connects on the transom side. In the library link posted above, my found fitting is broken identically to this one....even the same angle.

After doing the research last night, I need to head back down to the boat and take a look. When I found the part, I didn't know what it was, or where to look.
