So I was out on the hook over the weekend, reasonably close to an urban center and I thought, 'hey, why not see if I can pull down some digital channels?' I'm not surprised that I haven't had any luck at my marina (which has cable anyway) given it's location but I've been wanting to know if the TV/antenna combo would do the job I knew in theory it should do. Anyway, it worked to the tune of about 20 signals and it is impressive. Has a grilled pepper ever looked this good over broadcast television I ask you? ![]() And after taking just enough time to tune in and take that shot I turned it off and returned to my cocktail topside. And never turned the TV on again all weekend. But it was cool ![]() |

It depends on your location, we got 3 digital channels at the marina before the switch, now we get none. Added a antenna with signal boost, it did nothing. So, no TV for us, just videos. That is fine with us, as we do not go to the boat to spend our time watching TV anyway. In fact, we took the TV off the boat after the 10 day vacation we just finished, will use the laptop for movies if needed. |

What kind of converter are you guys using, and is it AC or DC? I am thinking about buying the Artec T3A Pro which is a DC unit |

well I thought the same, but learned differently. With just the antenna I dont get any stations, but when I hooked up a friends converter box for trial I got 13 very clear stations so it seems mine is not digital. The TV is a SOLE flat panel |

The TV is a SOLE flat panel I am guessing it is the same SOLE that I have. Chances are you hooked up your friend's converter and watched it through an anaolog input. There is a menu setting for watching DTV off air. I'm not at the boat so I can't walk you through it, but you have to select DTV, air (not cable) and do a channel scan. If your friend's box worked thorough your antenna you should be good to go. |
