Well it's been raining quite a bit lately, but i keep getting water in the cockpit through the base of the radar arch at the hinges and consequently filling the engine bilges!!!. I tried thigtening the arch by the access provided on each side of it with a wrench but to no avail!!! So my next tought was to put some silicone all along the gap so the water could stay out!!! Not much use of hinges if you do not need to lower the arch!!! Any thought someone???? Tks |

Dan, What cover are you using when you get the water? When I use the mooring cover and we get our typical summer rains I get a lot of water coming in around the arch. I don't know how to stop it yet, the gap is about a 1/2" where the canvas meets the arch. I have started rolling up the carpet in the cockpit to try and keep it dry. If anyone has other ideas please pass them along. |

Perhaps some sort of weatherstripping 'lip' around the outside that deflects the water away from the gap? |

On both sides? If it's actually coming through the hinge itself from the outside in, then you need to lower the arch and inspect the gasket. As dave said, which cover is this happening with? You'll have some water getting past inherently with the slight gap in the mooring cover (at least on my 338) but certainly nowhere near enough to even reach the bilge! And we've had an unseasonably wet past few months here... |

My 2006 had significant issues when I was out, and it was raining. We keep the boat in a covered slip, so I did not discover the problem until I was on the hook in the rain! I eventually siliconed both sides of the radar arch, and tried to funnel it out the stern side base of the arch. Worked only about 85%, in heavy rains still finds its way into the cockpit, but the silicone did help. I used a 100% clear silicone, and that did the trick. Hope this helps. |
