v278, just changed the thermostat, is the 160 degree thermostat the correct range, it is a 98 with twin 4.3 gi , and if there is an air lock what is best way to tell and eliminate?

What's your actual problem or symptom, that is generating this line of questioning?

Trapped air, in the engine cooling system is not likely (perhaps a bit more so, if you have a closed cooling system).

just inquiring, as I am replacing thermostats, and was wondering if i need to crack a line before i warm up, on 1 engine hose from raw water pump is rock hard, indicating thermostat in closed position, and the other is soft, which indicating flow and open stat, thermostats should be 160 degree if i am correct for a 98 4.3 gi,
