I am seriously considering a Vista 298 that is in great condition and very well priced but missing one thing...A/C. The seller said it is wired, vented, and ready for an A/C but it was never installed. If I buy the boat I will most definitely add A/C but I am wondering what brand and BTU is spec'd when you buy a 298 with A/C. I was thinking a 10,000BTU would be the minimum.

HellO!
The 298 2005 model shows a 10,000 btu. A/C in the Four WInns parts #SXR10 M10 115VAC 10000 btu. Don't know if anyone who owns one says this is sufficient.

I found a few that were 16kbtu, I figure that should be significant. I wonder what brand they use?

Thanks

I have a 2000 298 Vista and it came with a Cruisair 10,000 BTU self-contained system. It keeps us cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Stay within 10-12k BTU. a nice Cruise Air or Mermaid would be awesome!

I would get a 10,000 btu unit, cruise air and mermaid are very good units. Joe.
