I actually emailed them to get some extra detail. very quick response. Here's an overview:

The volume of carbon in the Big Orange filter is 1,500 cubic centimetres which is significantly larger than other filters. The Big Orange is also easily refillable when needed. You retain the housing and replace only the carbon and the filter screens (provided in the refill kit). This means owning the Big Orange is more economical than your current filter as the refill kit is priced at $20 CAD and a replacement cartridge for the Sealand will be upwards of $100 (depending on model). Unlike other filters the Big Orange filter cartridge is removed and reinstalled in the boat without the use of tools. This is helpful especially on installations where working space is an issue. Big Orange also comes equipped with a filter by pass valve to negate any restriction that the filter creates in the vent line. This valve is automatic and opens when the holding tank is being pumped out.
If you order a filter and refill kit at the same time you will save on shipping compared to ordering separate. Shipping cost for a filter unit is $20 CAD and shipping for filter and refill kit combined is $25 CAD.
I have a Sealand filter (and a spare). I may go another season with the spare... But after that, i will definitely think hard about going this route before dropping $80+ on a new filter.
