We are thinking about buying a used 268 Vista. Any thoughts? What is a good price for this model. 194 hours on the engine. Been listed since December!

NADA puts average retail at $43K with duoprop and A/C. Best and safest way is to have the boat surveyed. The surveyor should be able to not only give you a professional opinion of the physical condition but also a fair market value.

Boats that are bristol can be significantly higher than average retail. Ones that have been rode hard and put up wet...well they show their age and reflect that in what they get sold for.

I just had an '03 268 survey with a stated value of $50k--this was tied to Great Lakes are valuation, and I'm sure there is plenty of fudge factor. This boat has just about all options other than generator (air, vacuflush, color GPS, fire supression, sunpads, etc.), Mercruiser 350 MPI 300hp, bIII, 168 hours, good -great condition). Paid a few thousand less than that for it. Based on end of season (at least here), depending on engine, location, options, $40k would be a nice target.

Is there anything I should be looking for in particular as I go over the boat. Any tell tale signs of something I should definately walk away from? The price seems a little too good to be true for a boat this clean. $38900 Any help for this first time buyer is greatly appreciated

As was said above, hire a surveyor to look over the entire boat as well as the engine. A good one will not miss anything. It will cost you some money, but the piece of mind knowing you have a good solid boat, will be worth it.

I have owned mine now for 4 years, and there is not any one thing that I can say is a trouble spot for me. Sure, there are things I wish were different, but nothing to do with the way the boat is put together.
