Has anyone else experienced this problem? The rear 12 inches or so of the fuel tanks on either side are closed in within the engine bay with 3/8" thick plascore panels fastened in an "L" shape and attached to the hull structure with screws. It appears on mine that both fuel tanks are shifting rearwards causing the screws to tear out and the panels to pull apart. ![]() At this point the starboard tank has slid back about 1" and the port about 1/2". Are the tanks not also strapped or bolted in? Is it just these flimsy panels holding back 520 liters of gas from sliding into the engine bay? Am I missing something here? ![]() ![]() |

i can't believe any movement of the tanks is appropriate. they must/should be strapped and/or bolted down. call a FW dealer. |

I know they like these plastic tanks because they won't corrode...but they really have to do better with securing them...that's pretty scary to me....I prefer the aluminum tanks with 4 sturdy mounting tabs used on the older models like mine...when I re-did the deck in my 88 Horizon I also re-did the tank mounting...mine has two 6 foot long mahogany stringers 1/2 in thick that are mounted to the main center stringers and the 4 tabs are screwed into the mahogany stringers...very strong mounting system.... |

The smaller water tanks are actually bolted down through a flange (certainly the one on my Sundowner is). Surely the fuel tanks could be designed/ manufactured to be able use the same method? Graham |

First I need to talk to a dealer to see if they know how they are secured... if they are secured. Then I need to figure out how to fix it as they don't appear to be too easy to get at. |
