As many of you now know, I'm attempting to sell my 278 on EBay. Well, I got a question that I have no idea how to answer:



IS there any documentation on this? Does anyone know? My dealer is closed today (Sunday) and tomorrow so I won't be able to respond with an answer until Tuesday, and that's assuming my small dealer even knows the answer.

Can anyone help?

I don't have any emissions info, but a word of caution regarding international sales. It's a very common scam to pretend to be a buyer from overseas. The most basic form of the scam is to send you a check with an amount greater than the purchase price as a way to 'cover' possible added costs. Which turn out not to be necessary so they ask you to refund that difference. The first check is a fake but it often takes longer for it to clear that it would for your good check to be cashed. You get left holding the bag on the first check (and the fees associated with it) and then are also out the refunded amount.

My response to the interested buyer would be to say I don't know and cannot find that information. If they need to know that info then they would need to find it out on their own. I'd also insist on a long enough waiting period for completing the financial transactions before closing the sale. I don't know the best way to do that though.

One thought comes to mind, does FW currently have dealers in Norway?

What does it cost to ship a boat of that size to Norway? What are the prices of boats like that in that area?

This is strange.

Iam from Sweden, very close to Norway. What i know there are no rules concerning engine and emissions for boats in any nordic countries.

Many retailers from Sweden export boats to Norway. I dont think it should be diffrent to import boats from USA. Concerning enginge and emmissions.

If the buyer is serious he know where he/she can find all the datasheet he needs for your boat. Volvo Penta and Marcruiser is very ordinary engines here i nordic countries. Have the same setup.

Be enormously suspicious.



I think this is SCAM. I think the byer is not even from Norway.

Price comparison USA and SWEDEN. If your Four Winns 278 -06 in good condition should be sold here in Sweden a good price should be around 80 - 90.000 US dollar. In Norway it should likely be even more expensive.

Over sea transport is pretty cheap. The EU TAX killing the deal unfortunately.

The person has been on Ebay over six years and has 100% feedback but only 35. Of the items I can see, nothing sold was even close to the $ amount of my boat. He even has a profile photo on Ebay.

PM me if you're interested, I've done some searching and can't say one way or another in regard to the validity of the request.
