Hello,

I have a 2000 248 Vista and am woundering if any one has a winter cover for theirs. Have been looking on internet for an exact fit and the only one I can find is on boatcoversdirect.com and it is around $900. Does anyone know of any other place to get one?

Thanks

Mike

Semi Custom Fit by Carver Covers. 6 Ounce solution dyed shark skin breathable material. Purchased from boatcoversonline or boatcoversdirect (I can't remember which) but it was not $900, I paid $500 and change I think.

For our boats we have owned in the past, I have always had local boat/tent/awning shop custom make a winter canvas cover. Worked out very well. Down side, they only last approx 5 winters, these were made out of the heavy marine canvas (could hold couple feet of snow), not some light weight cover.

Current boat did the shrink wrapped one year, last year ended up with indoor heated storage.

I really liked the shrink wrap, snow slid right off! If you carefully take wrap off in spring, you can get another season out of it. I still have the wrap in case I choose to go that route again. I want to have 5th wheel shrink wrapped this year.

Installer can add doors to shrink wrap so you are not entirely locked out of boat/rv. With vents installed, boat was able to breath while under wrap. Much cheaper than a canvas cover, and you get a new one every or every other year. I don't think I will ever go back to a canvas storage cover, especially for a boat this size.

My cover has survived two PA winters so far with no issues.

Brett,

I got 7 seasons out of one cover, but that was pushing it. It ended up with a few tears I tried to patch. The weight of snow and ice is hell on them, and it is a pain to go brush off the snow every storm. That's why I really like the shrink wrap, maintenance free!!!

There is no doubt that your black canvas looks good on your boat!!!

Powell,

I don't have any issues because the cover is "slippery" what I do is I put the OEM cockpit cover on with the support pole, I then put the winter cover on and tie it down and I block up the front of the boat real high. Any snow that gets on the bow slides to the back and off the side of the boat and nothing sticks to the cockpit area because I have the support pole in place. It seems to work well. It's only been two seasons though.
