When I first joined this forum back in 2006 it was kind of a sleepy place being so new, and since I had a 97 there was not much going on for the older boats. Anyway I kind of recently re-discovered this forum as our search for a “new” boat led us to an 04 268 Vista. My wife and I are waiting for “Knot Again” to be delivered next Wednesday. While we have been waiting for the bottom paint job to finish we have both enjoyed exhaustive reading of posts going back to the beginning. This really is a civilized and helpful community. Anyway please welcome Knot Again who is looking forward to her new life on Lake Conroe. At 19 hours she is practically a baby. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More pics to come after she splashes on Wednesday. |

Nice boat. 19 hours on a 04? Did you find out why so few hours? |

I don't know much history on it. It was sold in Charlotte and has an oil change sticker from Lake Norman. It ended up with a broker in Lewisville TX. Passed a survey and a good 5 hour inspection from me. Runs like a champ. Some people just don't use their boats. |

When I was at the Dallas boat show a couple of weeks ago the Marine Max rep told me that they have been moving inventory to Dallas from other parts of the country because Dallas has not been hit as hard by the downturn. That thinking may explain why a North Carolina boat would end up there. Anyway it was close enough for me to check out. |

I hope that boat is staying wet all year long... That's the only reason I bottom painted my boat. Looks like a fantastic boat though - and the bottom paint job looks great. Do you know which paint they used or if you had them use a barrier coating? |

The barrier coat is Interlux Intercoat 2000E and the antifouling paint is Interlux Ultra. The boat will be in a covered slip year round and only come out for maintenance. Can't wait for Wednesday! ![]() |

SW Florida Dave wrote: The boat looks great an 04 with those hours is hard to find. Yeah we saw the Boat Trader ad on a Sunday, called on Monday morning and the admiral gave them a credit card to hold it until the following Saturday when we could get up to Lewisville. The salesman never ran the card. He just wanted to know we were serious. He said they were fielding many calls until they finally pulled the ad. He had a big red Sold tag on the trailer to fend off the other sales guys before we even made the deal. We were primarily looking at Chaps and Sea Rays but as others have posted, it was the layout, including the bench helm seat and access to the fore deck that won us over. It is really just a newer version of our old 278 (which we loved) only in MUCH better shape. Jerry Whittle Boats has been great to work with. They normally deal end high end pontoon boats and the See Doo sport boats. Cruisers are not their usual deal. They are bringing the boat down in the morning. We are coming up on four weeks with nothing but a jet ski. Can't wait. Will post pics of the big day. ![]() |

I have the same boat in an 03 with the 320 hp. motor. I love it. The Boat only has 60 hours on it and looks new. I have been thinking about painting the bottom but I just can't get myself to do it. I guess I will haul it around for a few years until I get tired of doing that. My problem is leaving my baby at a lake that is over an hour away from my home. |
