Post subject: | Trim Position on Trim Guage Help |
I have a 2000 268 Vista and the only mechanical issue I see is that my trim gauge does not go to the fully down position. In the down position the out drive is completely down but the needle on the gauge is about 1/8" from the down marker. Anyone know if this is a problem or if it is something that I should leave alone? |

As long as you hear the winning noise, that means the out drive is down all the way. Given the age of your boat, you might be losing your trim sender and it will need replacing. Both my senders are DOA and need replacing but I know my boat pretty well and since the trim still works regardless of what the gauges say, I will wait until the economy improves before I fix them. |

There have been a viariety of threads on this topic in the forum. You may be able to adjust the trim sensor if it is bugging you, otherwise I'd be familiar with where the gauge displays when the OD is fully down (as you already have) and leave it alone. My feeling on the gauge is that it is just a visual indicator anyway and once you get to know the sounds and feel of your boat, it's not all that necessary. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3494&p=34928&hilit=+trim+gauge#p34928 My $0.02 Erik |

Thanks Powell. Think I am gonna leave it alone for some time and hopefully it doesn't go out completely! |
