brought my 298 vista home on Saturday. Bought it in Detroit and drove through Lake St. Clair, down the Detroit river and across Lake Erie. Took about 6 hours which included a stop at Cedar Point for fuel and a bite to eat then finally to her resting stop at Whiskey Island Marina in Cleveland. here is a pic:

Seems like I've seen a boat like that somewhere before. Hmmm, it'll come to me.

Great first trip. Nice way to get to enjoy and know the boat. You'll enjoy your 298. Just don't throw out your back lifting that engine room hatch!!!!!

Congrats!!!

Smart boat!! Is that waterline detail in the pic or a shadow? If its detail it looks good.

Good looking boat and it looks well kept (almost brand-new looking). How many hours does she have and is the bottom not painted?

Congrats - that's a great boat!!! Hearing from your maiden trip makes me remember our voyage when we brought our 248 home from Sarasota to Cape Coral earlier this year. That was an adventure ;-)

I bet it is seeing how it looks like it was kept dry. Heck of a buy IMO even if he paid list price.

That was the exact boat, I was skeptical because the only pictures the owner was willing to send me were stock pictures from the brochure, but eventually he sent me some real pics so I decided to take a drive and I am glad I did. This boat was meticulously maintained and stored in heated indoor racks during the winter. The gel coat looks brand new, it is bottom painted but not as high as normal which I like because it looks like it isnt from the picture. The only one option it did not have that I wanted was AC, but I can live without it. The engines actually had just under 400 hours on them but all of the maintence records from new were included and she was maintained with no cost spared. all of the canvas including camper, mooring, and helm cover were new last year, and the cockpit carpet was replaced the week I bought it. My plans are to update the VHF, GPS, and TV, but other then that she is perfect. The mattress's even had covers put on then sheets, then a second set of sheets for protection, the cabin carpet had plastic down since day one so they are like new and even the microwave still has the styrofoam around the glass plate because it was never used. I looked at a few newer ones but they wanted at least $15k more and many of them did not have the 5.7's. All in all I am very happy, a few people at the marina thought it was a brand new boat.

That is a beauty! I'll bet you'll like the 5.7's. I have the 5.0's which are rated at 270HP vs. yours at 280 but I've always thought those extra 10 horses would mean the difference between straining and not breaking a sweat. Well done!
