| Post subject: | jabsco electric conversion problem |
so while away last week with the boat my toilet stopped working. When you go to turn the control knob either way you hear a click than nothing, no water coming in or being flushed. I am not sure but i am thinking that my nephew used the toilet and the fresh water tank ran empty. any help would be great. I did try to prime the system but that did nothing there was water in the line. do i need the service kit with impellors? |

Are the electronics all hooked up? I know mine flushes with lake water, not from the fresh water tank. |

fire i do believe electronics are hooked up. I have a lighted switch and it does light up. i know when you turned the control knob before you could hear the grinding noise, but now you turn the knob hear a click than nothing. mine is def from freshwater tank |

Take the white barrier cover off the top of the motor assembly behind your toilet. You will see a small silver knob sticking out the back end of the motor assembly. That knob has a slot in the middle of it. Use a flat head screw driver to turn it once you turned it once, flip the switch to see if the motor turns on again. If that is the case you might want to take the motor apart and put some marine grease onto the impeller and then reassemble. If that is not the case them you will probably need a new motor. I just picked one up on amazon for $120. Write down the motor part number and google it. Good Luck! |

so i ended up doing a rebuild and works great. i do have another question? where can i get the manual adapter that the toilet came with. from what i understand if toilet goes down again i should be able to flush manually. |

FYI... I just went to West Marine last week and bought the Jabsco manual head. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... sNum=10688 They have it listed as $174 but I found it on iMarine.com for $133 and they price matched it plus I have the $20 mail in rebate. Long story short... I have replaced the POS electric motor twice last year. It took me about 1 hours to remove the old toilet and install the new one last weekend and now I have a reliable toilet that works great for $113. |

R I installed the jabsco manual head 2 years ago, ($119) worked great 1st season, last year needed a little TLC to get pump working, this year nothing. AS I understand it, they recommend installing a service kit each year (new o-rings and valves) at $90. Someone posted that you can put a little lube on o-rings to help keeping them from drying out. I think they designed it this way to get our money each year!!! With the issues I have had with the head, I was thinking of going electric ($400), but if they only last a season or two, time to go back to port-a-potty???? As far as how much water is used to flush, greatly depends on the person, have had kids fill holding tank with lake water in 2 uses!!!! Best recommendation I can give, buy a $5 plunger When we beach camp for extended weekend or longer, and have guests camping in tents, we have a port-a-potty on the beach. This has saved going to marina to pump boat out more than once! |

I've only had my boat for a year, but the electric flush head was in it when I bought the boat. No issues thus far. |

I hope you have no issues, but just seems that too many of us on this board do have Jabsco issues, manual or electric. |

ok so now it seems that mine is acting up again. I just did the full service kit on the electric conversion, but now when you turn the knob either way it seems to add water and flush. It it supposed to add water if you turn one way and flush if you go the other. Any one had this happen before? any help would be great. |
