An IPS/diesel setup would probably be quite nice, until you consider the exhorbitant price increase it'd add. Now, if they managed to pull of some miracle and sold the setup at/near the same price for a high performance gas setup they'd no doubt sell quite a lot more of them. But until diesel engine setups stop being such an outrageously high-priced option there's little point in using them unless you really need the added torque. Given the short period of time most folks own <35ft boats it's nowhere near cost-effective to go with diesels. From what I recall the payback cycle is something like 7 years, even with a repower.
