I have a 98 258 Vista and it lists to port. The port side at the transom is about 1 1/2 - 2 inches deeper in the water than the starboard side at the transom. I have noted this on the one other FW 258 I saw at a dock in Seattle. I presume this list is because the batteries, water heater, cockpit storage, etc. are located on the port side. I am considering moving the batteries to the starboard side but have several questions.

1. Do others with 258's notice the port list?
2. If so, what, if anything did you do to help correct the list?
3. What would be involved in moving the batteries to the starboard side?

Thanks for the advice.

Desert Steve

My advice to you is to do whatever you need to get the boat acceptable to you. I have relocated the batteries in my H260 for better storage space. I don't think you'll find a straight forward answer. Start by just disconnecting your batteries and placing them on the starboard side to see if it corrects the issue (or use some similar sized donors)

I think you will find this to be a problem on most boats that are tall and narrow. Notice that the wide beams don't have this issue, or as noticeable.

All you can do is move weight around til you get what you want. But what happens when you walk aboard and sit on one side????

I have owned 2 258's and both of them had a list to port. I saw a picture of a 258 on this board that had the batteries on the starboard side. The owner said he did not move them but some one did. I raised the bottom paint on the port side and stopped worry about it.When your up on plane everything is level.
