Just bought my first boat and I'm happy to say it is an 05' Four Winns 268 Vista! I think I got a pretty good deal, but please feel free to let me know if I got ripped off :)

I bought the 05' with 105hrs on it. They still have the boat up on the site so check out the link below. It's in great shape. No discoloration on the deck or rear seating. GPS, Satellite radio, TV, radio, etc... I got this for 32K, they're winterizing in a temp controlled warehouse free of charge at the end of this season, docking fees waived for the rest of this season as well, and they even threw in a 3 year warranty on the engine free of charge.

Any thoughts on my deal? Was this a good deal?

They dropped the price $20,000.00. This is without question an excellent deal. Some poor person paid close to $85,000.00 for this boat 4 years ago. Someone took it in the shorts on this one.

That's a great deal ! Nice work. All the options you really need for a good price. Nice looking boat. Good deals do come to those with patience.

If you look hard enough on this site, you will find several members that paid more than you for a 1 or 2 year older 268 recently. Yes, some have options like gen-set, etc, but the value of many of those items does not justify the higher price paid IMO.

And to really make your day, look what this poor sap is asking for his 2005 268. He will need alot of luck to sell it at this price.

Congrats again !!

Yeah it's sad to ask what a boat was worth before our slow descent into oblivion...

Maybe someday we'll recover.... Sucks to own a boat dealership, sell a boat.

I'd say you got a great deal, you would not have gotten this deal three years ago!

A friend of mine just bought a boat with an MSRP of close to 600K for less than 1/3 of MSRP and it's new and it's LOADED and they took his old boat on trade! Great for him, BAD for the dealer....

The Captain is right. I paid $31,000.00 for an 03 268. I thought that was a fantastic deal because older boats were going for $40,000.00 in June when I bought it. I don't think the market has dropped that much since I bought my boat but who knows in todays economy.

That price sounds great! I paid a bit less than 10k more than you, for a year older boat, but I have a genset, like new trailer, and the classic color band. Looks to be in great shape! Glad to have you on the site, where do you boat?

My definition of a good deal is if you are happy with what you paid, and the enjoyment you get in return out of it.

Too early for you to answer that one yet! Let's ask you what you think at the end of next boating season.
How much did you used it, how many repairs/down time, how much did you spend on accessories.
Then when all is said and done, did you get a good deal????

So far it appears that you are on track. Keep fingers crossed that no major issues/repairs got overlooked, and you don't spend tons on getting geared up to boat. Goto the westmarine store or web site, you will find lots of stuff you will need, I mean want.

Our current boat we bought used for a "good deal", I knew there were things that need attention to get it to what I wanted. I needed a little more than I predicted, the "good deal" quickly vanished. But its all fixed up to my liking, (other than some scratches).

Hope you get to use it a bit before winterizing, get your feet wet before next spring.

Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks for all the reposes fellas, I appreciate it. I boat out of Red Bank. The fees are a bit steep for a slip but it's really nice there and I do like the marina. I look forward to more discussions in the future with all of you.
