Hello,

It is getting kind of chilly here in SWFL (55F) this weekend so I think I will put the camper canvas on for the first time on our V248. I haven't done that before and wanted to know if there are any tips and tricks as it doesn't seem all that straightforward?

Thanks,

Richard

I start from the front and work to the rear on our 268.

I start from the rear and work towards the front on our 268.
From memory......

1.) Remove pinsfrom upper mount and put supports in lower mount, re-install pins.
2.) Fasten retaining straps on stern gunwales and windshield.
3.) Put up and snap aft canvas/screen and zip in loosely.
4.) Put up port and starboard canvas/screens, snap and zip loosely.
5.) Put up, zip and snap side isenglass loosely
6.) Put up, zip and snap front isenglass.
7.) Finish zipping all pieces together fully.
8.) Drink a Beer.

Richard:

Here is the method to my madness.

My boat is lift kept at the house, bimini is always up. The camper canvas is installed when the boat is not in use. Check out boating banter, how much effort for boating, I posted a couple pix there.

When we go out I remove the panels from rear to front an store them under the starboard V-berth seat. If a rainstorm kicks up like they will here in SW. FLA. The first panels I need ( windshield and 2 front side panels ) are on top of the pile. Once those are in place, helm is protected , electronics and such, then the rear panels can be installed at your leisure. We got in one of those storms July 4th this year in Boca Grande Pass, couldn't even see the bow of the boat. It was short lived and relied on GPS to keep us safe.

Give it a try and see how it works for you.

Has the lock in Cape Coral being broke affected you? Ours was out of service for 6 weeks a couple years back.

Thank guys. It was a lot easier than I thought. The fabric / zippers are very good quality and that makes everything fit perfectly. Another moment of being happy about spending the couple more $$ and getting a Four Winns instead of a cheaper boat.

9Ball - we don't have to go through a lock. We just have a couple of bridges and are on the river. That really sounds terrible though...

I have no method, and have installed any part to block sun/wind and then installed the rest and have found it makes no difference.

Find what works for you and go with it. Once you have put up/taken down a few times you will know what will work best for you.
