Does anyone know where I can get a prop wrench or socket without going on the volvo web site where it costs 80-100 dollars.
I'm looking for a wrench or sockets to fit a 2000 volvo 5.0gsi duo prop. I would like to take the aft prop off to change the lower
unit oil.

Is what I have, although I think they dropped the price from when I bought it last year.

If you're a bit handy Graham R posted this on making one. I intend doing it myself someday................

The standard rear nut is 30mm. I made my own tool for the forward nut from a piece of standard 2" steel pipe ( schedule 40 grade, which has an OD of 2.375" and wall thickness of 0.154"). The nut is actually 52mm diameter, (with three 5mm wide protrusions 120 degrees apart), so the pipe is a perfect ID for the diameter of the nut ( and is very robust). I've welded a plate and captive bolt to the other end of the tube, so I can use a torque wrench when refitting the forward prop.

Graham
